Wild Atlantic Way, Day Four:
Today we woke from our first night of wild camping at the beach feeling great! Nathan jumped straight into the drivers seat and we drove around the coast to Garylucas beach. We thought we would make the most of low tide before breakfast, and decided to take the cliff path overlooking the beach which led to some small caves. We took some photographs here and then headed back to the van for breakfast. Today we had a first ever smoothie-van-breakfast, and it was very tasty. Our plan for the day was to drive to Mizen head, which was about a 2 hour drive, so we set off around 11 AM. Along the way we stopped in Clonakilty, where Nathan finally found some ‘good’ coffee for his aero press, and we also got some tofu and curry paste for dinner. We continued on, and stopped at Long Strand for lunch where we met another van lifer. After lunch we visited the Doonbeg stone circle, and had a quick stopover in Skibbereen. We still had another 40 minutes to drive to Barley Cove which is where the campsite we were staying was located. The drive included amazing scenery which we plan to explore more tomorrow. Dinner was curry and rice, and after-dinner we took the opportunity for a free shower. We then spent our even planning tomorrow’s adventures.
